Amberlee Woods
Amberlee is Spade's discovered True Love.
Their Story
Spade was very excited when he received the invitation to come to the caste again. He hadn't been there in a while, and he wanted to see Tyrus again. He had so much to tell him! He had even won a pickleball competition with his brother, and felt quite accomplished from it. He was in his room when his mother had brought him the formal letter, and he hadn't wasted time to read it. He went to his closet, putting on the Amethyst bow tie he received from Insanity for Christmas, hoping to make a better impression with it. He had decided to wear it every time he went to the castle, to honor the Duke. He then put on his top hat, ready to go and see his second family again.
He went out on the porch after saying his goodbyes to his family. His father reminded him to bring a sleeping bag along, but Spade replied that he wouldn't be spending the night. He waited on the wooden porch swing, his eyes bright as he kept them peeled for the carriage that would deliver him to the kingdom's highest authority building.
It took a few minutes, but finally the black and orange carriage arrived, pulled by two brilliant and large white stallions. Spade was always impressed by them, and made sure to give them both a sugar cube before riding in the carriage. The great creatures deserved a little tip for their hard work. He jumped into the fancy carriage and was carried back to the castle, conversing with the footman as they rode to the castle. It wasn't a long ride, but long enough to catch up and enjoy each other's company.
Spade gazed out the open window space, his paws on the edge. That was one habit he could never get rid of, but he was working on it. He stared at the castle as it approached, and felt his excitement rising upon every stride of the horses. Upon arriving at the large metal gate, the guards there opened it up to let them through, and Spade looked around at the long green pastures, which at the time were empty. Of course, the animals were being fed around this time. It was almost relaxing to see the nature as it originally was, without a creature there to interfere.
He waved politely to any workers that he passed, although he wished he could toss a gold coin to each and every one. He knew that being a castle servant had its benefits, but it was hard to be independent. He had met everyone though, and they seemed pretty content to be working within the kingdom, so he never pestered them to think of a different life.
The carriage turned a corner and went along the road to the front of the castle, where an overhang was so that carriages could arrive straight to the door. Spade felt his heart pounding as they neared. But it seemed to skip a beat as he saw a young female kit playing with Tyrus in the front gardens. She was one of the cutest simas he had ever seen, and it caused a blush to run across his face. He had never had a crush before, but he felt like this one was. She was very pretty, and she took his breath away. He shook his head to clear the thought though, knowing that she was probably a servant's daughter or a relative of Tyrus or the Duke. He wanted to meet her nonetheless.
But as the carriage pulled under the overhang, the kit raced away to another door, leaving Tyrus to come greet them. He smiled brightly, coming up and opening the door for the arrival, stepping aside to let him out before signaling for the footman to take the horses to the stables. After the carriage left, he shared a greeting embrace with Spade. "Hey, welcome back!" he said cheerfully. "It's great to be with you today. It feels like it's been forever!"
Spade smiled up at him, fixing the hat on his head before standing proudly. "It has been! I'm very glad to be back." He glanced to where the female had disappeared earlier, wondering where exactly she had gone. But he wanted to at least get inside the castle before he asked any questions about it. "Has anything changed around here recently?"
Tyrus began to lead him to the front door, letting one of the butlers lead them in. The butler offered to take Spade's top hat, and he accepted. "A few things. I think the most exciting thing that you would like is that we updated our pickleball courts with some sweet new technology. You would love it." He smiled down to Spade kindly, going to the living room to visit with his friend. As they arrived, he sat in his normal seat, and the kit sat on the couch diagonal from him.
Spade laughed lightheartedly. "I'd love to go check it out in a while! I was actually going to say that I beat my brother in a tournament on Thursday. It was a really intense match, but the win was worth it!" He grinned before glancing to the door. "But who was that kit you were with?"
Tyrus nodded before he grinned also. "That kit would be one of Insanity and I's twins," he said proudly, his chin lifting slightly. "One of the best kits in the kingdom." He shifted the weight on his paws, gesturing with his muzzle to the two kit's portraits on the wall over the fireplace, with a portrait of Insanity and himself on top of them. "The pride and joy of the castle." His ears flicked nervously.
Spades heart did a flip. The beautiful girl was their daughter?! It was almost unbelievable. But this could mean he would have someone around his age to hang out with! And maybe Insanity wouldn't be so grumpy when he hung out with Tyler all day. "Can I meet them?!" he asked a bit too excitedly, jittery to go run out and find them as he grinned.
Tyrus' ears flattened and he sighed, glancing to his paws before looking to the kit. "I-I'm sorry Spade, but Insanity doesn't want you around them. And I can't argue with the Duke." He was quiet a moment. "I'm truly sorry."
Spade’s entirety shattered and he felt like he was sinking to the point of drowning. His grin disappeared, replaced by an upsetting expression. He laid down his head on his paws, his eyes losing their shine. Why couldn't he be with them? He was so eager to hang out with another kit other than his family for once, and yet that expectation was smashed, like a bug under a rock. Was the Duke trying to get at him somehow? Surely he would know that he would want to spend time with the two kits. He assumed that Insanity had something against him, even though he never did anything to displease the royal family. He let out a long sigh. He was rather glad he wasn't spending the night, elsewhere he would have gone home anyways. He was silent, wallowing in his own disappointment. Even as Tyrus spoke, he tuned out everything, turning in the chair so that his back was for the male. He needed to think, and he needed time to get over whatever feelings had just attacked his heart.

Spade laid there a long while, not noticing the heavy silence that filled the air. He heaved in deep breaths to stop himself from crying. Being a kit, things got emotional. But Spade hardly cried. He wasn't even sure why he was extremely upset about the whole thing. Just because he couldn't meet someone shouldn't send him into a tyrant of emptiness.
He jumped as he felt a tap on his back, and turned his head to see who it was. He was expecting either a servant or Tyrus, but what he saw was the girl kit that was in the gardens when he arrived. Amberlee. He sat up straight and blushed, staring into her eyes as she grinned at him. Wasn’t he not supposed to meet her? “A-Amberlee?” he asked, swallowing a bit and feeling as though his tie has just shrunk by three inches.
